SoundTube Entertainment, a world-wide leader in the commercial audio industry, introduces the XT-Spyke – a two-way, fully weather-proof, columnar Line Array Point Source (LAPS) speaker. The engineering team at SoundTube has been creating innovative speaker solutions since the company was founded in 1996, and the tradition continues with the introduction of the XT-Spyke. Standing 38” tall and featuring eight 3” polypropylene woofers and eight, sealed titanium dome tweeters, this speaker delivers incredible full-range sound over an 120 degree (horizontal) by 50 degree (vertical) coverage pattern – all in a fully sealed enclosure that can withstand the harshest environmental conditions. The stainless steel grille and mounting bracket, coupled with a rotational molded Linear Low Density Polyethylene enclosure make the perfect speaker for your outdoor arena, amusement park or amphitheater. The speaker is offered with the option for two different mounting brackets – a traditional wall mount, or a “spike” mount for locating the speaker on top of a piece of 1.25” diameter pipe. The speaker is also provided with provisions to be “flown” – or suspended – from a ceiling or superstructure.
Not your traditional line array, this speaker is a columnar array housed in a single, vertical box that produces a very short near-filed extent and provides significant far-field performance. Tapering of the low and high frequency pass bands, provides for frequency shading which allows the XT-SPyke to maintain a consistent ratio of array height to radiated wavelength, ensuring a stable vertical beamwidth over a very wide frequency range. This technology, coupled with extensive transducer development to produce drivers that meet exacting specifications results in a speaker that outperforms many other single-box line arrays – all in a package that can handle anything Mother Nature can throw at it.
The XT-Spyke is available in black, green or white and has an optional 120W transformer for use in distributed audio applications.
