THE SOUND OF INNOVATION™
The SoundTube Story: A Legacy of Collaboration
The story of SoundTube began in 1995 when a group of businessmen, designers, engineers and tinkerers, but above all, audiophiles, developed a speaker that would be the first offering in a new brand called Induction Dynamics. Not content with just good sound, these audiophiles focused on perfection, designing, building and finishing cabinets, and selecting components all by hand, and developing their own unique crossover design. After a few years of marketing this new line, an opportunity arose to acquire another brand which also had a reputation for superb quality and innovation… and SoundTube Entertainment was born.
Our story begins in 1955 with Bill Hecht, a pioneer in speaker design who set out to bring "theater sound for the home" by founding United Speaker Systems, Inc. His groundbreaking innovations, like the soft-dome tweeter, laid the foundation for decades of audio excellence. Fast forward to 1997, when Chris Combest (our current CEO) founded Induction Dynamics with one goal: to build the best residential loudspeakers on the market.
In 2002, Chris, from Kansas City, joined forces with Bill and his son, Ken Hecht from Jacksonville, Florida, combining their expertise in OEM manufacturing and hi-fidelity driver design to create a powerhouse in audio innovation, forming MS Electronics.
In 2004, MS Electronics acquired SoundTube Entertainment from its eccentric founder, David Weiner. Known for his bold marketing style and creative ideas, Weiner had already made waves with SoundTube's flagship pendant speakers — a product that redefined open-ceiling audio installations.
Chris, Ken, and Bill brought Phase Technology (PhaseTech) into MS Electronics in 2006. Working together in 2008, Chris and Ken's engineering team developed SolidDrive — the invisible sound transducer that revolutionized audio integration by transforming surfaces like drywall, glass, and wood into high-fidelity sound sources. SolidDrive remains a game-changer in both residential and commercial applications.
Since then, SoundTube has grown into an industry leader in commercial audio while maintaining its fun spirit and commitment to innovation. In 2024, we rebranded to make SoundTube the primary customer-facing name for all our commercial and residential offerings, unifying our solutions under one trusted brand while continuing to honor our legacy of excellence.
SoundTube is the umbrella brand for both commercial and residential products including Rockustics, SolidDrive, Soundsphere, Phase Technology, dARTS Theater and Induction Dynamics.

Our Products
SoundTube Entertainment provides a broad range of speaker choices for a wide variety of applications in both the commercial and residential markets. Our products range from 3” architectural speakers to the ultimate “man cave” tower speaker with dual 15” subwoofers. Models include in-ceiling, in-wall, on-wall, pendant, focused audio, broad coverage, paging/security, outdoor, line array, surround, wireless, IP-addressable, subwoofer, freestanding/tower, bookshelf, soundbar, digitally-controlled home theater system and invisible speaker options. Key to all lines are sonic quality and ease of installation. “Average” and “generic” are not words one would use to describe SoundTube products. The company’s technologies maximize the listening experience while making installation fast and simple.
A Unified Brand with Rich History
SoundTube Entertainment is proud to serve as the customer-facing brand for all our commercial and residential offerings. Over the years, we've expanded our family of brands to include:
Phase Technology (2006): Founded in 1982, PhaseTech is a pioneer in luxury residential audio with patented innovations like dARTS (Digital Audio Reference Theater System) and the soft-dome tweeter. PhaseTech products are primarily produced in Jacksonville.
Rockustics (2011): The creators of "The Original Rock Speaker," blending rugged outdoor durability with high-fidelity sound. Manufacturing moved from Colorado to Lenexa, KS in 2015.
Soundsphere (2013): Omnidirectional sound solutions perfect for large commercial venues like gyms, airports, and arenas. The BAA/TAA compliant products are produced in Jacksonville.
At the Forefront of Dante-Enabled Audio Systems
Since 2011, SoundTube Entertainment has led the industry in end-to-end Dante-enabled audio systems for everyday applications. Our goal is simple: provide a cost-effective path to advanced audio networking without unnecessary complexity. SoundTube offers the world's broadest assortment of IP-enabled PoE speakers, along with a full range of Dante-enabled components. With hallmarks like easy programming (no specialized training required), affordability for applications such as restaurants and retail spaces, and centralized monitoring and control of all components, we make advanced audio accessible for everyone.
The Team
When a company is brought into the MSE Audio family, it is not treated as a wholly owned subsidiary or a vertical profit center. Rather, it becomes part of a team, exercising a level of synergy not normally seen in multi-brand companies. For example, when Connecticut-based Soundsphere was added to MSE Audio, its speaker designers soon found themselves contributing to a re-design of two Rockustics rock speakers. Likewise, the Florida-based engineers at Phase Technology were heavily involved in the design of SoundTube’s IP-addressable and wireless speaker systems, while Utah-based SoundTube’s industrial design expertise has played a role in the look of recent PhaseTech and SolidDrive designs.
Likewise, the MSE sales and customer service teams work together to promote multiple brands to both residential and commercial markets. This structure gives dealers in both markets access to a wide range of speaker options with a cohesive support plan that does not change from brand to brand.

All SoundTube products are Designed and Engineered in the USA
Design and Manufacturing
With multiple design and manufacturing centers across the residential and commercial spheres, SoundTube’s Jacksonville, FL location (home of our Phase Technology series) occupies a special niche in today’s audio industry. As one of the few fully vertically-integrated speaker manufacturers in America producing drivers, crossovers, cabinets and systems. Unlike most brands, which rely on offshore manufacturers to design their speakers, every speaker and speaker system in the SoundTube catalog is designed, prototyped, and performance proven in Jacksonville before being produced in one of its factories.
What Makes Us Ingenious
At SoundTube Entertainment, we don't just make speakers — we craft solutions that solve real-world challenges with creativity and precision. Here's what sets us apart:
Complimentary System Design Services: Whether you're working on a sprawling commercial venue or a cozy residential space, our engineers provide free system design services that often require fewer speakers to cover the same area — saving you time, money, and headaches.
BroadBeam® Technology: Our patented dispersion technology ensures even sound coverage across any space without compromising clarity or quality.
Patented Installation Tools: We've developed integrator-friendly tools like our SpeedWing™ constant-tension mounting system and BroadBeam Ring™ technology to make installation faster, easier, and more reliable — saving you time on every project while ensuring long-term performance integrity.
Built for Integrators: For IP-enabled PoE speakers and weatherproof outdoor solutions to custom-made speakers and subwoofers, every product is designed with integrators in mind — because we know you've got enough on your plate already.
Vertically Integrated Manufacturing Excellence: At SoundTube Entertainment, we take pride in being one of the few vertically integrated U.S.-based speaker manufacturers. This means we ensure quality control at every step — from voice coil winding to finished systems — at our facilities in Kansas and Florida. Many of our products meet Buy American Act (BAA) and Trade Agreements Act (TAA) compliance standards, making them ideal for government installations. For products manufactured overseas, we meticulously engineer, design, and manage production to uphold uncompromising quality without cutting corners.
What’s next?
SoundTube is continuing to develop industry-changing technologies through its various brands, further expanding speaker options available to system integrators and end users. The bottom line though, is that sonic quality will rule supreme.
SoundTube holds dozens of patents for speaker design and mounting technologies. Perhaps the most notable is the the industry-standard soft dome tweeter.
A Family Business with Big Ideas
SoundTube is still proudly family-run! Chris Combest leads as CEO alongside his son-in-law, Shannon Humphrey as President. Together, they've cultivated a company culture that blends family values with fun and creativity. Whether it's brainstorming new product ideas or swapping installation stories over coffee (or maybe something stronger), our team thrives on collaboration and a shared love of great sound — and great partnerships.

That's why our U.S.-based customer support and engineering teams are here to support you every step of the way with products that make your job easier and your clients happier.
